Help wanted for the selling of a TD
Below is a copy of an email that I received on March 1, 2013. Perhaps someone can help Mr. Abrahams find the right market for the sale of his late father's TD. Bud Krueger
Mr. Abrahams added that the car is located at
Sandhurst, Berkshire (GU47 8HE)

Dear Bud,
I do apologise for what will seem like quite a random email, but I found
Ttalk.info’s details in recent days amongst my late father’s possessions –
rather sadly, my father passed away a few months ago and he was very much the MG
enthusiast – and I just wondered whether I might possibly ask for some advice? I
do hope you don’t mind.
Basically, my late father has bequeathed to my mother, his surviving spouse, an
MG-TD (1951) amongst other items – it was his absolute pride and joy, and, as an
electronics engineer by trade, he certainly looked after his MG in a meticulous,
almost obsessive fashion. Much as we might wish not, however, the reality is
that the MG will need to be sold. And, essentially, it is in this respect that
I’m writing today.
What I specifically wanted to ask is what your advice might be, Bud, in terms of
advertising an MG-TD and what the right channels might be for doing so? I’m very
conscious of wanting to sell the MG to someone who is likewise an MG enthusiast.
I’m also conscious of the fact that the car is quite valuable (in the region of
£23-25K, according to a vintage MG friend of my father who evaluated the car
just before my father died), mainly as it is in an excellent condition given its
62 years. So again, I am just keen to advertise the car through those avenues
which might yield the best responses (and with a mind on trying to maximize
eventual sale proceeds for my elderly mother). To date, I have tentatively
advertised the car through eBay Classifieds and Car-and-Classic magazine, and
whilst the respective “advert views” have been reasonably encouraging, this has
not translated into many viewings at all and, needless to say, certainly not
into a sale. So, I feel sure I’m not advertising in the best places.
As a result, I genuinely hope you don’t mind me asking for your advice, Bud,
about where might be a good place to advertise an MG-TD? I would totally
understand, of course, if you would prefer not to do so, especially as this
really is quite a random, speculative email. However, should you have a spare
moment to pass on any advice or suggestions, I would be ever so grateful. (Just
out of interest, I have attached a few photos of the MG-TD above.)
With very best wishes,
Simon

I have no financial interest in the sale of this car. Just helping an enthusiast. Bud Krueger
